footprint art

i saw this cute art project on a blog and just had to do it. i know that years from now, when my baby isn't a baby anymore, that this will be such a treasure to me. i just love his little feet, even if they are clammy!

my favorite time of the year

it's that time again! we are in full swing holiday fun. parties, baking, decorating and gift wrapping. i love this time of year! i love it all. since we are with my parents this year, i decided to get a baby christmas tree for our room. i LOVE it! i also picked up some festive additions in the $1 section.

i can't believe next christmas we will have a chubby little 6 month old baby. i cannot wait!

making this house a home

it is starting to feel a little more like home around here. with every little detail i feel more and more like this is our place and so much more comfortable. i have been working hard around here to get this place in shape. maybe i'll do a full home tour once it's all done! for now enjoy some details.

moving in

sorry i have been so absent folks. i'll tell you all about it later. for now i am playing catch up...

moving in wasn't as difficult as i thought it would be. we had some friends and family there to help us so it went really smoothly. i am so grateful to have such great people to love and support us. we truly are so so so blessed.

by the way, how adorable is our little nephew emerson??? he seriously kills me.

leaving california

it was really tough to pack everything up and leave our very first apartment. it was long and tiring, but we had a lot of helpers along the way. one of the things i was excited for was to purge myself of unnecessary things. this meant that we made a few trips to the donation bin, but it also meant selling my car (tyler drives a company car now). my sweet little mazda 3. the first car i bought when i graduated high school. my baby.

it was a great little car and it still is. luckily we sold it to my sister's in laws and they told us we can come visit whenever we want! i will miss that car, just watching it drive away was sad. seeing our apartment completely empty was sad too. surreal.

but something about this moves just feels right. we are trusting in Heavenly Father's timing and in His plan for us. sometimes it's not easy leaving something behind, but it is necessary. we both know that las vegas is where we are meant to be and so far we are loving it!

feels like christmas

the decorations are up my friends. finally everything is complete. we don't have that much stuff, but it took a couple weeks to get everything set up, cleaned up and boxes put back in storage. but now we can enjoy. walking out the door in the morning is like torture. i just want to lay on the couch all day and gaze up at that beautiful tree! oh and it smells so delicious. by the way, does the in n out fry ornament make you hungry too? i got that at an ornament exchange last year and we love love love it.

there are a few new additions to our decor this year. the vintage candy dish with stars etched in the glass from my late great grandmother, the fun colored yarn garland from anthro, the other vintage candy dish from my other late grandmother - yes you do need two candy dishes per every 1 apartment, the advent calender crafted by yours truly and the christmas prints i found for free online! the only thing that cost anything was the garland from anthro, but that was on sale so i don't really feel bad about it.

i think my favorite thing is the advent calender. i just cut up left over paper from a past project, taped 24 squares on the wall and each day we add an activity to the calender. we came up with 24 christmas-ey things to do throughout the month and we pick one each day and put it on the calender. that way we aren't sitting around wishing we could have done more holiday fun during the month! we are loving this so far and i think it will be a tradition in our house!

something left behind

this last week my parents decided to clean out their storage unit. this meant that all boxes needed to be rummaged through and things marked for keep, donate or sell. luckily i was able to inherit quite a few little gems left behind by my great grandma jones. i never knew her, but as i carefully unwrapped each piece of her vintage china and decided which items to save for myself i couldn't help but think of what she was like. when did she use these things? were they for special occasions or everyday use? what style clothing did she wear? what were the conversations she had while using these items that she left behind?

i had lots of favorites, but only kept a few of my very favorite pieces. now each new piece has a special place in the apartment. it was tough deciding which things to keep, but space is limited so it had to be done. i think my favorite thing has to be the cute syrup dispenser. i remember my grandma pitts using one of those whenever she made us breakfast, i mean cold syrup was just not okay in her house. i can't wait to use it! thanks grandma jones!
