Escalante. Hiking. Adam + Kristen. 5.15.10

We headed to Escalante, UT a couple weeks ago for the wedding of Tyler's cousin Adam Rex. He married a great girl, Kristen. We were so lucky that we could be there. The trip started out by picking up Adam's brother Spencer and his wife Ashley in Vegas. They flew into the airport there from Texas. We finished out the drive up catching up with them and arrived in Escalante late Thursday night.

On Friday we woke up early to hike the slot canyons. It was INCREDIBLE. It was raining a little bit and since flash floods are common in the slot canyons it was a little risky to venture in. We cautiously entered and I am so glad that we did. This is definitely one of those things to do before you die.












Friday night was the Hoe Down/Rehearsal dinner with all of the wedding party and family. The food was incredible and so was the atmosphere. So many family members were there... it was great to catch up with all of our Utah relatives.











Saturday we woke up to hike lower calf creek falls. Basically the most beautiful place on EARTH! Yet another thing to add to your bucket list for sure. The hike was 3 miles in and 3 miles out. You walk along a creek most of the way and you end at a gorgeous water fall. Tyler, Spence and Ethan ventured into the ice cold water, but didn't last long. It was funny to watch them scurry out of the water. It was a great hike and it is totally doable no matter what fitness level you are at.







After the hike was the wedding. It took place at the Slot Canyons Inn, owned by Jeff + Joette (Spencer and Adam's parents). The pictures pretty much speak for themselves. Everything went perfectly. It was an elegant country wedding that looked like it came straight from a magazine. Kristen did a great job. It was very fun... especially having Rhett + Katie at our table. They just recently got married and they live in our building and we love them. Rhett is possibly the funniest person I have ever met. He has one of those laughs that just makes you laugh so you just end up laughing over and over. Know what I mean? We are really lucky to have so many fun couples in our ward now!

















On sunday we headed home and drove through Zion National Park. It was really amazing. Another thing to do before you kick it. Then we sadly dropped Spencer + Ashley back at the airport in Vegas.







We arrived home just in time to take all of our finals!

Mother's Day 5.9.10

Mother's Day this year was great. We had breakfast with Cindy and Judd, went to church, then headed to my parent's house to have dinner with my Mom.

I didn't get any pics with Judd and Cindy, but we had a great french toast breakfast and she loved her gift (we got her a really cute bird feeder for her newly landscaped garden). We are so grateful for Cindy and all she does for us. She is a great lady who loves us and always encourages us to do good things. I am grateful for her example.

For my mom, we made shish-ka-bobs (not sure about the spelling) and for dessert we had brownie ice cream sundaes. It was scrumptious! It was a wonderful day. We all worked together to make it a great evening. I love my mom so much. She is a really fun lady to be around and she is always willing to help others. I am grateful for her example and love. She is my mommy and I will always remember all she has done for me.

Dinner at the White House 5.7.10

Not THE white house, but the Anaheim White House.

My mom won a dinner with Ducks player Bobby Ryan at a Ladies Luncheon sponsored by the Ducks. Our whole family got to enjoy a 7 course meal. Every course was elegant, creative and delicious. If you are willing to splurge for a special occasion I definitely reccommend the anaheim white house. The owner, Bruno, also ate with us. He is a very kind man who does a lot of charity work through the Boys and Girls Club. He donated the dinner to the auction so the money that my mom paid for the dinner went to a charity. It was very fun to talk to Bobby like he was just a regular guy. He told us about his girl friend, about his contract and about his new bobcat/kittens (yah... they are super cute). I really enjoyed talking to Bruno and listening to funny stories about the other Ducks.
